6-Year-Old Ask For Charity Donations Instead Of Birthday Presents

  • September 17, 2012

Mahwah resident Johnna, in lieu of presents for her 6th birthday, asked her friends to donate peanut butter and tuna fish for CUMAC/ECHO in Paterson.

CUMAC/ECHO stands for Community Ecumenically Concerned Helping Others  – a name meant to show that while it is an urban mission of the United Methodist Church, it serves all people in need without discrimination.

The reason for the collection is that our church, Grace United Methodist in Wyckoff, supports CUMAC/ECHO as one of our missions. CUMAC/ECHO, like other shleters in the area, is running low on food supplies. Tuna fish and peanut butter are foundational proteins that are important for shelters.

She collected 19 jars of peanut butter and 57 cans of tuna.
