It always mystifies me when people suggest 'that sucking sound of jobs leaving the country' (Ross Perot) is a good one and that the reverse sound of the return of good paying jobs for Americans and the construction of store factories and infra structure is a bad thing because people might get better wages working conditions and benefits?

No, the sad irony is that most ordinary Americans buy a lot of crap that was made in China. People don't seem to get that if you stop buying the junk, and start buying and demanding American made goods (or, heck, at least North, Central or South American), then and only then will you stop the flood of slave-labor produced toxic Chinese junk into this country.

I think that you really need to do additional research. Trickle down means government taxing the very wealthy and hoping that this creates jobs for the middle class. That poll you refered to was only about the debate, not a poll on how voters intended to vote. If you check the polls that ask likely voters how they would vote Obama did not gain any points as a result of this debate.

In their first polls conducted partly after the second presidential debate, both Gallup and Rasmussen Reports show that Mitt Romney has extended his lead over President Obama among likely voters.

The bet was about whether or not Obama made out the better because of the second debate and whether or not we would see that in the polls by the end of the week. By whichever measure, that is precisely what we see.

Pick a poll. In half of them, Obama is currently in the lead. In the other half of them, Romney is listed as in the lead for the popular vote and behind in the electoral contest.

Let's take one of the polls that leans to the right- Rasmussen. In the days between the first and second debate, Romney was gaining increasing traction with gradual increases all the way up to being several percentage points ahead of Obama the day of the debate. Since, Rasmussen has shown a decrease in Romney's lead up to the point of them being tied 47%/47% just the other day. It now shows Obama to be one point behind Romney, but my point was spot on. Obama came out the better from the second debate and we can now see it in the subsequent polls leading up to the end of the week.

Sorry Ridgewood Mom but I disagree with your assessment. How about we call this bet a draw and bet on who wins the election instead. That way there will be no way the bet is subjective, debateable or subject to opinion. Care to make another bet your gonna regret?
