Bob’s Flower Shoppe Named Mahwah’s Favorite
Under new ownership, Bob’s said it is slowly giving the floral shop a “fresh” design, which will include a new name
Each week, Patch asks readers to vote for and comment on their favorites. By 53 percent of the Readers’ Choice vote this week, Mahwah Patch users chose Bob’s Flower Shoppe as their favorite florist in Mahwah.
The shop, on East Ramapo Ave. in Mahwah, recently came under new ownership. Flor Bella Designs owner Patricia Caseres took over the shop late last year. Managers and floral designers Scott Alexander and Frederick Lange say they have used their near six months in Mahwah to acclimate themselves to the community, and begin giving the shop a fresh look.
“The community has really welcomed us, it’s been great,” Lange said. “We have done arrangements for the PBA, the township, the school district and Ramapo College. We love being involved.”
Commentors on this week’s Readers’ Choice poll agreed that the new ownership is settling in nicely. Patch user J said “Although I was sad to see the old owners sell, the new owners are just as friendly and eager to be a part of Mahwah.” Commentor Joey Bourgholtzer added that the staff at Bob’s is “creative, friendly, [has] great stock, and will make you something special very quickly.”
The staff said they feel fortunate to take over a business that has been established since the late 1970’s. “The old owners were great, and we have been having a wonderful time adding our fresh design and approaches to the shop,” Alexander said. Since moving in, the managers have added new designs to the inside of the shop, and have added artificial arrangements to the list of services Bob’s offers.
“We are still a full service florist,” Lange said. “We love to be creative with our arrangements.”
The designers say residents can expect some changes to the shop’s exterior this fall, including a new name – Flor Bella Designs. They say a grand opening celebration will likely accompany the new look.
“So far we have had a great experience here, and we are excited to continue to add our fresh designs to the shop,” Alexander said.

I used to always use Peter's Flower - but since they moved from that convenient Franklin Tpke location to the Ramsey downtown nightmare site, I've tried Bob's twice and was very pleased.

My husband, Bob Curley, is the original owner who opened "Bob's Flower Shoppe" on July 1, 1977. The original location was 109 Miller Road.......just up the hill. We were very fortunate to have sold the store to Michelle who not only kept the name but also the same sense of family business that Bob always took so much pride in. Even though the name has changed.......it appears by this article that the commitment to the customer and the quality of the work is the same! Congratulations to you all! Perhaps one day Bob and I will have the opportunity to visit the store and wish you well in person.
