The Mahwah Public Library is teaming up with the township’s municipal pool this summer to promote fun, family reading.

According to Librarian Allison Moonitz, the library has two programs operating this summer at the pool.

All summer long, there is a free paperback exchange happening at the pool. “We are giving away the paperbacks,” Moonitz said. “It’s like a swap, so people can bring one to leave, and take one, or bring a few and take a few.” The pool shelves are currently stocked with contemporary fiction novels for kids, young adults and adults. Most of the paperbacks in the shelves are titles that have been donated by residents to the library.

“It’s good summer reading,” for parents and teens at the pool, Moonitz said.

This summer, for the first time in a few years, the library is also bringing back ‘Storytime’ sessions at the municipal pool. Children’s Librarian Chris Wilson will be at the pool four times to read family-oriented summer stories to kids.

Wilson will be at the pool hosting Storytime sessions from 4:15 to 5 p.m. on:

• Thursday, July 19
• Thursday, July 26
• Thursday, August 2
• Thursday, August 9

Residents can buy day passes to attend the pool those days, and then go to the Storytime free of charge.

“We are all very excited about this,” Moonitz said. “They are all light-hearted, fun summer activities.”
