Bosco To Honor Mahwah Attorney, Soap Actress

Thursday night President's Gala will honor locals

Two Mahwah residents will be honored at a Thursday evening Don Bosco Prep gala, according to a release sent out by the school.

The tenth annual President’s Gala, happening Thursday at the Westmount Country Club in Woodland Park, will thank “alumni, parent and friends” of Bosco with awards, dinner and dancing, the release said.

John Conte Jr., Mahwah’s municipal attorney and 1977 graduate of the Ramsey high school, will be inducted into the DBP Hall of Fame. Conte, a partner is a Montvale-based law firm, has been a very active alum.

Conte is a member of the annual alum soccer game, and helped set up the alumni hockey game, which is a Vincent Linguanti Memorial Scholarship Fund fundraiser. HE served on the school’s board of trustees, alumni association, and helped organize DBP’s annual golf classic. His three sons, who live with Conte and his wife Mahwah, are also Bosco grads.

At the last town council meeting, Conte bashfully accepted praise from the council about the Bosco recognition. “Thank you very much, it is an honor,” he said.

Byrne has hosted the “Angels for Hope Gala,” and founded and chaired the “Daytime TV Salutes St. Jude Main Event.” Both raise money for the charity. She, her husband, and three children live in Mahwah.
