Dine And Dance With The Elves To Help Families Affected By Irene

Fundraiser will help raise money for Tricky Tray

Since news spread about the damaging effects of Hurricane Irene on homes in the township, the Mahwah Elves have been helping. Whether it be through volunteer clean up efforts or fundraisers, the group, started by resident Suzy Godding, has pledged its commitment to helping the community recover from the damage caused by the storm and subsequent flooding.

Next weekend, the Elves are asking for the community’s help in raising funds and donating items to continue their cause.

This week, the Elves announced a Night of Dinner and Dancing fundraiser, to be held at the Rio Vista Clubhouse (20 Emma Court) Friday, October 21, from 7-11 p.m. Live music will be provided by the band “Presence,” dinner will be served, and silent auctions will be going on. Guests should wear casual dress, and BYOB.

Tickets are $50 each, cash or check only, and all funds raised benefit “Mahwah victims of Hurricane Irene,” the Elves said.

To purchase tickets to the event or get more information, residents can contact Tricia Shada at 201-934-9727 or patriciashada@gmail.com, or Megan Zabransky at 201-248- 0789 or megzabransky@aol.com.

The event will collect money for a Tricky Tray for affected residents happening the next day. The Tricky Tray, aimed at giving families some of the furniture, clothing and other items they lost, will take place at the Ramapo Reformed Church on Saturday, October 22 at 3 p.m. The Tray will include some snack foods, raffles for flooded residents, and more.

Furniture and other donations for that event will be accepted at the following times and locations only:
