District Spending-Per-Pupil Down In 2010-11
2012 Taxpayers’ Guide to Education Spending breaks down how much money Mahwah spend to educate each student in the township
The Mahwah school district spent slightly less per student during the 2010-11 school year than it did the year before, according to the 2012 Taxpayers’ Guide to Education Spending, released by the Governor’s Office Friday.
In 2010-11, a total of $17,521 was spent on each Mahwah student. According to the report, the total cost includes not only costs the district incurs, but also payments made by the state on behalf of the district. The cost was down over $400 per student from the 2009-2010 school year, during which each pupil cost $17,975.
According to a release from the Governor’s Office, the average total spending per-pupil state-wide in 2010-11 was $17,352, about $169 less than was spent on each Mahwah student.
Total spending in the district was also down year-to-year, from $62,660,962 in 2009-10 to $59,813,490 in 2010-11.
The report also ranked budgetary spending by the district over the two-year period. That was also down about $200 per student, from $13,547 in 2009-10 to $13,333 in 2010-11.
The taxpayer guide goes on to further break down the district’s spending on a per-student basis. Some of the highlights of Mahwah’s spending are below:

You think this is good? Think again mom and dad. This means that your town is happy with paying less to educate your students. Instead of cutting at other waste, the wise town fathers would rather cut your kid's education money. Kid's education is the one place where we should be happy to spend our tax money.
