Dry Cleaner Says Coat Drive Connects Businesses To Community

Drop off gently used coats at Tumble In in Fardale through Nov. 2

A Mahwah business owner says he hopes to accomplish two goals with a coat drive he is starting at his Fardale dry cleaning shop Wednesday – to help those in need, and to give back to the community he loves being a part of.

“My business is in this community, and I like being a big part of it,” Andrew Berenberg, owner of Tumble In Dry Cleaners on Forest Road in Mahwah, said. “Giving back to people in this area is important.”

Berenberg has teamed up with St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church in Ramsey for Tumble In’s First Annual Coat Drive, running through November 2. Gently used coats can be dropped off at St. Paul Interparochial School, before and after mass at St. Paul’s Church this weekend, or at Tumble In. Coats will be dry cleaned, courtesy of Tumble In, and all coats collected by next Friday, Nov. 2, will be donated to Ramsey Responds.

Berenberg, a Paramus native who has worked in the dry cleaning business since 2007, opened the location in Mahwah in June of 2011.

“This is a great location,” he said. “Everything here has been going well since we opened. It’s definitely not the easiest time to open a business, but I think if you treat your customers right, they have no reason not to come back.”

Part of that treatment, Berenberg said, is giving without expecting anything in return. “I hope this is the first of many coat drives we are a part of.”
