Free Shakes Friday At Shake & Sizzle Celebration
Grand opening events include hot wing competitions
The Shake and Sizzle restaurant, which opened in the Gateway Plaza on Franklin Turnpike earlier this year, will be giving out free shakes in a Grand Opening celebration Friday.
According to owners George Ghobrial and Adel Soliman, the restaurant has been offering residents a “friendly environment” since its soft opening in August. To celebrate the grand opening, they said, the mayor will be on hand at 11 a.m. for a ribbon-cutting ceremony, free shakes and meal specials will be offered all day, and guests can engage in competitions (like a hot wing eating contest) throughout the day to win $25 gift certificates to the restaurant.
The restaurant’s menu features burgers, Portuguese chicken, wings, ribs, a variety of different shakes, and charcoal-cooked specialties.
The owners, who say they have been in the restaurant business for over 25 years, started out with New York Pizza in Ramsey, and also own Nonna’s Pizza, located just a few storefronts down from Shake and Sizzle.
“We are passionate about food,” the Mahwah residents say. They also want to use their businesses to give back. Shake and Sizzle just started a program where a portion of its proceeds go to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
