GW Seeking Sponsors, Donations For Annual Walk-A-Thon
HSO says the event is its biggest fundraiser of the year
The George Washington Elementary School HSO is already planning "our single largest fundraiser event of the year, the Walk-A-Thon," parent volunteer Brett Coplin said. This year's event, which coincides with Walk-a-Thons at all three of the district's K-3 elementary schools, is scheduled for October 13.
"We depend on our community merchants and charitable organizations to help us make our event a success," Coplin said.
The Walk-a-Thon has been a tradition in Mahwah schools for “at least 30 years, and in that time it has really grown into a great event,” Coplin said. This year’s Walk-a-Thon will include a bounce house, sand art and other crafts for kids, carnival games, raffles and more.
“It draws a lot of people from the school and usually raises a significant amount of money for the HSO,” Coplin said. All HSO funds are used “to support our students,” he said. In the past, money has been used to help fund field trips, in-school assemblies, and classroom technology.
Local businesses and individuals can help in several ways. They can make monetary donations, and become sponsors of certain events at the Walk-a-Thon. Or, businesses can donate gift cards or products to be raffled off in tricky tray raffles or bid on during a silent auction.
Businesses interested in making donations to help support the annual event can reach out to Brett Coplin at 201-280-0741 or brettcoplin@gmail.com.
