This week’s Readers’ Choice poll, which asked users to vote for and comment on their favorite deli in Mahwah, was a very close race. Thanks to a combination of votes, comments and positive reviews on its Patch directory listing, Janek’s Meat Market was named the favorite deli in Mahwah.

One Patch user, Antrim, commented “Janek's is a true, old-time deli. Larry is always there to great you with a smile! The hot pastrami sandwich is one of the weekly lunch specials and Janek's famous hot dogs are served every day at lunch.”

Another, Janet Wilson, agreed. “Besides the food, I love Larry, Lee, and Eduardo. They're like family to me,” she said.

Mahwah Deli came in a close second place. After the initial results of the Readers’ Choice poll were calculated, the two establishments were tied – Mahwah Deli got more votes, but Janek’s had more comments in its favor. The tie was broken by considering the number of positive reviews on the delis’ directory listings.

Users had positive things to say about Mahwah Deli, too. “Nothing beats walking into Mahwah Deli and having Les and Patti greet you with a smile, and having one of their great sandwiches,” J said.

Overall, all delis in Mahwah got support from Patch readers, with 307 total votes in this week’s poll.
