Locals Winning Gems Hidden Throughout Mahwah, Ramsey
Last day to locate 'Finders Keepers' hidden jewelry is Saturday
Friday morning, Woodcliff Lake resident Melissa Quinn’s neck got $2,500 richer.
Quinn stopped at the Ramsey Train Station Friday morning on her way to work at Alpha Graphics in Mahwah. She was meeting her aunt at the Ramsey Starbucks when the 24th clue in the Devon Jewelry Finder’s Keepers scavenger hunt challenge was posted on Pinterest – “Take a journey to Suffern on the Bergen County Line, get off after Allendale and you'll be right on time. Take a look and you'll see four wheels all around, the space is big but in C is where I'll be found.”
At 8:30 a.m. Friday, Nancy Schuring, owner of Devon Fine Jewelry in Wyckoff, posted the clue describing where one of her elves had hidden a $2,500 14-carat white gold journey pendant diamond necklace. As part of the store’s fourth annual Finders Keepers promotion, Schuring has been hiding $32,000 worth of jewelry from her store in 12 towns throughout Bergen County.
The promotion is in honor of the store’s anniversary, so this year 33 pieces will be hidden in honor of 33 years in business. Devon Jewelers says the giveaway is a way to thank customers who have kept the store in business.
About two minutes after Friday’s clue went up, Quinn walked calmly to the Ramsey Train Station and found the bagged gem, sitting on top of a parked car.
“I knew about the promotion last year, but I wasn’t trying that hard to win because I never thought I would!” Quinn said right after she found the necklace. She added, “I am definitely keeping this for myself.”
This year, to make the contest more convenient for all customers, Devon has added early morning, evening and Saturday drop offs.
Four drop off points are left Saturday, and at least one is in either Mahwah or Ramsey, organizers said. Happy hunting!
