Mahwah's Average Commute Less Than 30 Minutes

Interactive map shows Mahwah residents have a slightly shorter commute time than people in surrounding towns

A commuter from Mahwah spends a few minutes more getting to and from work each day than the average commuter across the United States, according to an interactive map of Census data compiled by WNYC.org.

According to the map, the average commute time from Mahwah is 28.9 minutes, slightly above the average travel time to work across the US, which the Census cited as 25.4 minutes.

The statistics puts most Mahwah commuters out of the “mega-commuter,” category, the report said. According to the Census, mega-commuters spend at least 90 minutes traveling to work each day. The NY metro-area has some of the highest number of mega-commuters in the country, the report said.

Mahwah has a slightly shorter commute time than towns immediately surrounding it – Ramsey came in with an average commute time of 30.2 minutes, Wyckoff with 30.8, and Saddle River with 34.4.
