MEVO Asks Community To Recycle E-Waste This Weekend

Mahwah Environmental group hosting event in conjunction with Principia NP Saturday

The Mahwah Environmental Volunteer Organization is hosting an E-Recycling collection event this Saturday, July 9, at the building at 142 N. Railroad Avenue. Old computers, printers, cell phones and other electronic waste will be collected from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

MEVO, which and is continuing to expand both in Mahwah and other Bergen County towns, is hosting the event in conjunction with Principia NP, which promotes green lifestyles while providing scholarships and financial aid information to students.

The e-waste drive is part of Principia’s “Green Initiative” program.

MEVO is asking residents from all over Bergen County to drop by Saturday to leave items they do not use anymore.

“We are trying to be effective as possible,” said Emma Spett, MEVO’s Town Coordinator in Mahwah.

“We'd love to have a big turnout, so the more the merrier!”

According to the Principia website, items that will be accepted include “computer towers, laptops, plasma screens, printers, copiers, keyboards, gaming consoles, AC adapters, cables, wires, calculators, shredders, stereos, speakers, scanners, cell phones, digital cameras, ipods, used printer toner, and other household electronics.”

Refrigerators, stoves, car batteries, lawn mowers, air conditioners and washing machines will not be accepted.
