MEVO Distributing Free Recycling Bins To Businesses

Contact MEVO for more information about recycling bins

Dear Editor,

Hi, my name is Jordan Swenson and I work with the Mahwah Environmental Volunteers Organization.

We are currently working on a project trying to distribute bins we are receiving from a company, Hydrosorbent Dehumidifiers, up in Massachusetts. This company acquires about 35 bins a week, and we have been collecting and storing them. Our main goal is to stop these bins from being thrown in the garbage, and we felt a good way to do that is convert them into recycling bins and distribute them to local businesses, schools, municipal buildings, and residents.

[The bins] are made of heavy duty cardboard and have a metal rim that locks on a lid.

Local businesses interested in adding a recycling bin to their facilities should visit MEVO's website, or contact: Eric J. Fuchs-Stengel, Executive Director at 201-316-4888 or ericjfs@mahwahevo.org.

Cheers,

Jordan

Hey Hank,

Right now we are working on water proofing them. But you can use them for storing anything in-doors. Also they can get rained on several times before they get too soggy. We have used them for moving rocks, dirt, trash... the key thing is that they just can't constantly get wet because then they will fall apart. You can also lock a plastic bag inside if you wanted to use a removable bag (although, of course, we would encourage you to not use the bag). Let me know if you have any other questions.

Cheers,
Eric J. Fuchs-Stengel

What is the MEVO's position on the administrations plans to privatize recycling in Mahwah? Does anyone even know this is in the works?
