Over 1,000 Lose Power Along Franklin Turnpike
Equipment failure caused the outage, O&R said
Over 1,400 Orange and Rockland customers in Mahwah, Ramsey and surrounding towns lost power Monday morning, O&R spokesperson Mike Donovan confirmed.
The cause of the 9:57 a.m. outage was an equipment failure at a S. Mahwah substation, Donovan said. There was "no fire" at the substation, he said.
According to the utility’s website, 677 customers in Mahwah and 390 customers in Ramsey were affected by the outage. A map on the site shows the outage occurring on and around Franklin Turnpike.
All customers were back on the grid as of about 10:25 a.m., Donovan said.
