Parents Organize Trick-or-Treat Alternative
Kids gather at the high school because of post-storm conditions
A group of parents organized an impromptu alternative to classic trick-or-treating Monday as many Mahwah families are still reeling from the effects of a weekend out-of-season snow storm. A trunk-or-treat session was held at the Mahwah High School Monday for kids who couldn't trick-or-treat in their neighborhoods.
"Because of all of the damage caused by the storm, a lot of the kids were not able to go trick-or-treating, so a couple of the moms got together and planned this event,"Albert Suied said.
Suied said that parents organized the entire event via email.
"The turnout was great and all the kids had a ball. It shows how a community pulls together during a crisis," he said.
Parents who participated in this year's event are going to attempt to make it an annual tradition in the township, Suied said.
How did you and your kids trick-or-treat this year? Tell us in the comments.

This was great!! We are still out of power and and our street was completely dark last night - it was great to Trunk or Treat and then we were done. Thanks so much to everyone who put that together! My kids loved seeing there friends there too! I hope this can become an annual event!

That was a great idea! I only wished I'd known about it. But being without power, we were totally disconnected. Got power last night, thank goodness. We did manage to have a good Halloween, but the kids were disappointed to find many of their favorite neighbors weren't home as they were staying with friends/relatives. In the end, a good time was had by all!
