The Mahwah community came together Saturday to brighten the lives of one brave little girl and her family.

Mary Nelson is a Mahwah 9-year-old who suffers from Neurofibromatosis, a genetic disorder that causes tumors to grow on nerve tissue. Mary has been undergoing chemotherapy treatments since she was seven years old, and had surgery to remove an ocular tumor earlier this month.

Saturday, a Dream Room Makeover team of over 300 volunteers overhauled the Nelson's home.

According to Dream Room Makeover founder Robert Stern, "We had great weather, fun and it [was] amazing. The reveal showed tears from the mom and the sisters, Mary and Sophia, were too excited for words."
