Mahwah families gathered with local officials and members of the North Jersey Military Moms to celebrate the Winterfest Finale at the Mahwah Senior Center Saturday night.

The event included an award ceremony for the winners of the annual coloring contest, a fire safety demonstration and the formal closing of this year's Winterfest.

Mayor Bill Lafort compared the series of Winterfest events to the journey in The Polar Express. "This whole celebration is something that our community can believe in," Laforet said.
