Ramapo College Pitcher Drafted by Cincinnati Reds

PJ Cerreto is set to start his Major League Baseball career.

A former Ramapo College star baseball player has been drafted to the major leagues.

According to a release from the school’s athletics department, PJ Cerreto, a pitcher from Paramus who graduated last spring, was drafted Saturday by the Cincinnati Reds.

Cerreto "was drafted in the 40th round of the Major League Baseball draft [Saturday]," Ramapo’s Director of Sports Information, Rachel Pinton, announced in a release.

According to the release, the draft pick is a right-handed pitcher. Cerreto finished his senior season with a 2-1 record on the mound. He recorded a 2.72 ERA in six appearances, and 60 strikeouts in 39.2 innings pitched, the release said.

Ramapo College reps said this weekend they do not have much more information about Cerreto’s drafting.
