Bikes For Bucks: Ramapo Rumble Coming To Mahwah

90-mile motorcycle run to benefit township school

The Ramapo College Foundation will hold its Second Annual Ramapo Rumble, a motorcycle run along a 90-mile stretch through North Jersey and New York State, on Sunday, May 20, 2012.

The 90-mile run, which begins on the campus, includes three stops for bikers to enjoy refreshments. The event will also feature lunch, live music from the DRG Band, awards, a 50/50 raffle, and door prizes. Motorcycle-related vendors will also sell cycling gear, and Harleys, Triumphs and BMW bikes will be on display.

Last year’s Rumble raised about $15,000 for student scholarships and undergraduate research programs. About 120 bikers attended the event. The event raises funds for student scholarships and undergraduate research programs.

“We thought this would be a fun kind of event to introduce the College to a new group of people,” said Ramapo College Foundation Assistant Vice President Kathleen Mainardi.

The run’s Steering Committee is comprised of College alumni, staff, members of the Board of Governors and community members. Members of the committee include Chairman Rick DeSilva, Rick DeSilva, Jr., Anthony P. Petralia, John Brewster '75, Randall Brewster and Jonathan Marcus '93 of Mahwah, NJ, Robert Hiden of Mamaroneck, NY, Doreen Janes of Lyndhurst, NJ, David Hackett of South Plainfield, NJ, Larry Inserra of Franklin Lakes, NJ, Lisa Ryan of Towaco, NJ, and Gerry Guidice ’78 of Robbinsville, NJ.

The Poker Run/Ramapo Rumble is a Ramapo College Foundation event, created to uphold the Foundation’s mission to “provide the resources that make the difference in Ramapo College of New Jersey’s quest for educational excellence.”

The event is scheduled for Sunday, May 20, and the rain date is Sunday, June 3. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and will continue until 10:30 a.m. the morning of the run. The cost is $25 for riders and $15 for passengers.
