Report: Crossroads Lawsuits May End in Settlement
Representatives of the Crossroads developer, township and Committee to Stop Mahwah Mall met to discuss settlement options, report said
Two lawsuits surrounding the passage and repeal of zoning laws allowing for a retail shopping development at the Crossroads property surrounding the Sheraton in Mahwah may be moving toward a settlement, NorthJersey.com reported Thursday.
Representatives of the Crossroads Developers, the township, and the ‘Committee to Stop Mahwah Mall’ citizens group all met with Judge Alexander Carver III this week, who has yet to make a decision on the lawsuits, which he heard in September, the report said.
“I think the court’s thinking is that this would create an opportunity for the developer and the town to create a better plan, now knowing what problems have been encountered,” Andrew Kates, attorney for the CSMM, said in the article.
All three parties are expected to reconvene for another round of settlement talks in two weeks, the report said.
