Report: Mahwah Resident Steps Away from Politics After Convention Loss

Incumbent Holly Schepisi and Old Tappan Republican municipal chairman Bob Auth won the Republican bid for District 39 Assembly seats, report says

Former Mahwah Councilman and Bergen County Freeholder Rob Hermansen said he is stepping away from politics for “a while,” after losing a bid for a seat on the state assembly Saturday, NorthJersey.com reported.

Current Assemblywoman Holly Schepisi and Old Tappan Republican municipal chairman Bob Auth won the Republican Party bids at a convention Saturday, the report said.

At the convention, Schepisi secured 210 of 250 votes, Auth had 152.

According to the report, Hermansen got only 107. Hermansen also lost his bid for reelection to the Board of Chosen Freeholders in November.

He was running to replace an Assembly seat vacated by current Assemblyman Robert Schroeder, who was indicted by a grand jury on charges of stealing money from loaners and writing bad checks.
