September 11 Memorial On Display In Mahwah

Special Les Paul guitar added to exhibit

The Mahwah Museum Society announced that it has added a new, special edition Gibson Guitar to its exhibit Les Paul in Mahwah: A Tribute. The special edition guitar entitled, “Always Honor” pays tribute to first responders who gave so much to protect others on 9/11. It will be on display in the Mahwah Museum through to the end of June.

From the Mahwah Museum it will travel to several other venues, and on 9/11/12 it will be auctioned for charity to benefit the families of the 9/11 first responders. The Mahwah Museum is open Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from 1 – 5 p.m., and admission to the exhibit is $5.

The “Always Honor” guitar is one of three Les Paul Traditionals which feature laser etching designed by Gibson’s top craftsmen. It is made from traditional tonal woods used on all Gibson Les Paul models, a mahogany neck and back along with a maple top. The unique artwork was laser-engraved into the body by Gibson luthiers to ensure that the design is a permanent part of the guitar, not simply part of the finish.

In addition to viewing this special guitar, visitors to the Museum will learn essential facts of Les Paul’s life and career. They will see displays of his inventions and innovations, one-of-a kind precious guitars made especially for Les Paul, a reconstruction of the studio in which he worked, a look at how he and Mary performed their weekly radio show from their home, and many hands-on video and audio displays. Visitors will also have access to a performance space where, at certain times, they can play one of Les’s guitars.

The museum will host two gallery talks at 7:30 p.m. in the Museum on March 6 featuring Ronnie Gantz and on April 17 featuring Russ Paul.
