To the Editor:

On May 9 - 13, 2013 six officers will represent the Mahwah Police Department by participating in the 2013 Police Unity Tour, a 300+ mile bicycle ride from Northern New Jersey to Washington, D.C. to support the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. 

Officers make this trip with the purpose of raising awareness and financial support to help honor officer killed in the line of duty. Thanks to donations, nearly 11 million dollars has been donated to the Memorial, making the Police Unity Tour the single largest supporter of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.

In addition to rigorous training, each participant is required to raise a minimum of $1,750. Any assistance, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated. Please help us ensure that no fallen officer is ever forgotten and help us assist the Memorial by providing a place for the families to remember their loved ones. 

The Mahwah riders will be hosting two fundraising events in the coming weeks to help them reach their goal of $10,500.00. Please show your support and contribute if possible.

On March 23, 2013 we will be holding a clothing drive to benefit those in need across the United Stated and worldwide. We are accepting used clothing in any condition. We are also accepting used sneakers/shoes, household items (towels, blankets, linens), and small toys. Items not suitable for reuse will be recycled.

Items can be dropped off at Mahwah Police Headquarters in the rear of the building on this day between 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. If you cannot make it and would like to have items picked up, please email mahwahpba143@gmail.com prior to this event to make arrangements.

On Saturday March 30, 2013 we will be hosting a fundraiser at Boom Burger (180 Route 17 South inside the DoubleTree Hotel) between 1 – 5 p.m. Come check out this great new restaurant in town, and 20% of all food and beverage sold between these hours will be donated to our cause. We have live entertainment and hope to utilize the great outdoor patio.
