Small Earthquake Could Be Felt in Mahwah
2.0 magnitude quake was centered in Ringwood, the AP reports
A small earthquake that was likely felt by some Mahwah residents struck northern New Jersey early Sunday morning, reports say.
According to abcnews.com, the 2.0 magnitude quake was centered in Ringwood, but could be felt in surrounding towns like Mahwah, Wanaque, Oakland, Franklin Lakes, West Milford and Paterson. The quake struck at about 1:19 a.m., reports said.
Though some residents reported hearing a loud “boom” noise, no damage has been reported as a result of the earthquake, the Associated Press report said.
The report cited the last earthquake in N.J. was recorded in Feb. 2010. It had a 2.2 magnitude.

Early this morning I woke and as I lay I feel my body tremble so very little.
I thought is was my nerves or muscles or something.
My apartment trembles when large trucks drive by,but heard nothing outside.
I wonder if it was felt here in Rochester,NY?

Definitely heard a loud boom and looked up meteor shower. There was one one last night according to a site on astronomy. Google "meteor 2012" and click on earthsky.org site.

If there is any investigative journalism left please check the stone quarry nearby Ringwood. I live in Ringwood and it is not the first time we've heared a loud boom, same intensity as tonight. Somebody was saying that once in a while the people at the quarry are blasting using more than allowed dynamite. I asume they can do this because nobody investigated their business and they are close with police and people in power.
