Mahwah Schools Call Two Hour Delay Tuesday
Snow is expected to last from 5 p.m. Monday through Tuesday morning
Mahwah schools announced Monday evening they would operate on a two-hour delay schedule Tuesday, due to inclement weather.
Forecasters are calling for two to four inches of snow and ice to fall on the township.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning and Hazardous Weather Outlook for the area through 10 a.m. Tuesday.
The forecast, according to the NWS, is:
- Monday: A chance of snow, mainly after 5pm. Cloudy, with a high near 37. East wind around 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
- Monday Night: Snow before 9pm, then snow, freezing rain, and sleet between 9pm and 1am, then freezing rain and sleet after 1am. Low around 31. East wind 11 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch possible. New snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
- Tuesday: Rain, mainly before 1pm. High near 43. Northeast wind 6 to 9 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
- Tuesday Night: A slight chance of showers before 10pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 25. West wind around 14 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
In advance of the storm, NJ Transit announced it would offer full system-wide cross-honoring from 4 p.m. Monday through the end of the service day on Tuesday. Check the NJ Transit website for delays.

The storm warning posted above does not include Bergen Cty. Although there is already 6" of snow on my deck and it is only 10PM. Looks like they got this one wrong.
