Meet Martha, a sweet senior cat who needs a forever home, and Copter, a young energetic pit bull terrier and their friends all available for adoption at the Bergen County Animal Shelter.

Copter is full of energy and life. Confused at the shelter but the hope is that with more human interaction and walks with the volunteers he will come out of his shell. He does show signs of bonding and clearly likes human affection, therefore, he will hopefully realize the benefits of being socialized. Because he can be easily distracted and hasn't quite built a relationship with anyone, it’s recommend adopters allow him to adjust to his new environment before introducing him to different people and places. Martha is an 11 year old cat who would most likely prefer to be an only-cat as she is not too happy to be around other cats at the shelter. Martha is a talker too. ID#87104

Hasek came to the shelter when his owner no longer wanted a cat anymore. Hasek is about 10 years old. It's believed he lived in a home without other animals because he seems to be scared of the other shelter animals. He has tested negative for Feline Aids and Feline Leukemia. ID #87332
Dusty is a very petite 7 year old guy. He is super friendly and loves to be around people. He has lived in doors his entire life and has lived with children before. Dusty was brought in to the shelter for litter box issues. There were other cats in this home, so we feel if he is adopted as the only cat in the house he may use the litter box. Dusty has been using his litter box at the shelter. ID#86927
Scared and timid, this 4-year-old female Pit Bull Terrier came to the shelter as an owner surrender who couldn’t keep her any longer. Because she is unsure, her adopters will need to be patient and willing to provide her with the proper and healthy socialization requirements so she can grow into a more confident, mindful adult. Chicka definitely shows signs of bonding so we have no doubt she will blossom into a sweet and loving canine. A stable routine and leadership will make her feel more balanced and boost her self-esteem. Adopters should allow her to adapt to her new home before introducing her to the whole world.

Very handsome. No doubt that the shelter was a bit too hectic there. As they usually are. When I adopted my pit from the shelter, it just took a few days for him to get used to his new, quiet surroundings. Then they are wonderful. Great dogs.
