A retro-style burger joint that opened its doors in the summer of 2011 is no more.

Shake & Sizzle, which was one of two restaurant in the Gateway Center on Franklin Turnpike, closed in the middle of December 2012.

Though Eric Levy, the property manager for the building, said he could not comment on why the restaurant closed, he said it was the owner’s decision to shut down.

“Of course we were disappointed that it didn’t work,” Levy said.

Shake & Sizzle went through a redesign about a year after it initially opened to the public. The restaurant was the first tenant to move into the space at 3 Franklin Tpke. since the Gateway Center opened in late 2009.

But, Levy said his company is not being too sentimental about the restaurant’s closing. It is already meeting with several potential replacement tenants, he said.

“We are very encouraged going into 2013,” Levy said. “To be meeting with prospects just a few weeks after [the restaurant] closed is good.”

“We are actively seeking a replacement tenant,” he said.

Though Levy remained tight-lipped about what the possible new tenant in the spot could be, he said the center is talking to both restaurant and non-restaurant options.
