Mahwah Police responded to a box truck stuck under the train tressel at the intersection of Franklin Turnpike and Route 202 Tuesday afternoon.

The truck, observed to be from Northeast Janitorial Supply, Inc, was wedged between the street and the train tressel causing a traffic backup at the intersection.

Mahwah Police could not yet comment on the incident, but nearby neighbors say that oversized trucks getting trapped under the overpass is a common occurrence.

The truck was cleared from the scene by 1 p.m. Tuesday with minimal impact on traffic.

Check Patch later for additional details about this incident.

Happens weekly, to be honest. People don't read the 9'7" signs that are posted in every direction.

They should do what parking garages do and erect a very obvious collapsible pole structure across 202 on that side about 50 to 100 feet in front of it at the maximum height with flashing lights and everything. If They hit that first and stop, it'll be a heck of a lot easier, faster, and cheaper to fix the situation. It could be an pro-active warning system.

JP here is a better idea. How about the driver pulls his head from up his rear end and reads a sign and get a little familiar with the vehicle he is driving.

I believe it serves as a "Traffic Signal", the side if the bridge with the red blocks has to "yeild" to on comming traffic because the Airmont bridge is not wide enough for 2 cars to pass at the same time

Hank, the red painted bricks are to alert the people driving east on west airmount to yield to the people driving west on west airmount, which does not happen often, this is my understanding of the painted bricks
