Super Bowl Champs Help Mahwah Residents Break World Record

Two retired NY Giants spend the evening in town

Helping ring in a new record in Mahwah Thursday night were three football players who said they were “proud” to be a part of the event.

“We are retired, but we do a lot of work at Giants Stadium for various events. We met Sgt. Curtis there, who works here in Mahwah and he approached us to be a part of the record,” said Sean Landeta, a two-time Super Bowl champion punter with the NY Giants.

Joining him to sign autographs, take pictures and show off Super Bowl rings was Stephen Baker, “The Touchdown Maker,” a fellow Giant.

Landeta was part of the Super Bowl XXI and XXV championship teams in 1987 and 1991, respectively.

Baker was a wide receiver on the Super Bowl XXV team.

The two retired Giants were joined by Billy Taylor, a draft pick who played with the Falcons and Cardinals.

“We were honored to have been asked to be a part of this,” said Baker.

After spending the evening rubbing elbows with Mahwah residents, the three donned ponchos and joined the community in breaking the record for the largest human smiley face.

“Of course we want to be a part of the record attempt!” Baker said.
