This is what $16,000 worth of Christmas decorations looks like.
Suzy Godding, the stay-at-home mom who started the ‘Mahwah Elves,’ a group of volunteers who helped residents hit by Hurricane Irene, is one of five finalists in The Weather Channel’s “Epic Christmas Contest.”
As one of five finalists across the country, Godding and her family haad their Hines Ave. house decked out with $16,000 worth of Christmas decorations. A la ABC’s Extreme Home Makeover, the Goddings were whisked away to the Mahwah Doubetree, and not allowed to return home until the big reveal.
In addition to the décor, Suzy and her family picked up a $2,000 gift card and an iPad.
The half-hour long profile of Suzy and the Elves first aired on the Weather Channel Monday night, and will re-air Tuesday at 9 p.m., and again on Thursday and Friday. One of the other finalists, Raegan Junge, a 6-year-old from Iowa who raised money for the Joplin tornado, was the “Epic Christmas” grand prize contest winner, The Weather Channel's Jazmine Maddox said Tuesday. She picked up additional prize money to be donated to a charity of her choice.
