‘Teen Drug Scene’ Parent Seminar in Mahwah This Week
Seminar at Mahwah High School is being billed as '90 minutes that could save your child's life'
The Mahwah Municipal Alliance and Mahwah High School are co-sponsoring a program for township parents this Thursday about teen drug use.
The seminar, ‘Defending Your Teen,’ is happening this Thursday, March 7, at 7 p.m. at Mahwah High School.
According to the MMA, the presenter, Tim Shoemaker, is a nationally acclaimed presenter on the ‘teen drug scene,’ who will share with parents techniques on how to “protect [children] from the dangers of drug abuse.”
According to a Mahwah Police presentation during a township budget hearing last month, juvenile delinquency complaints and arrests in Mahwah were up in 2012. Last year saw 29 drug-related cases in which minors were involved, and 12 alcohol-related cases in which juveniles were implicated, Chief Jim Batelli reported during the presentation.
Thursday night’s seminar is free, but pre-registration is required, and only 250 seats are available.
Locals can get more information about the event here, and pre-register here.
