Volunteers Needed to Find Mahwah Neighborhood History
Museum is looking for volunteers to help with a new exhibit on the history of Mahwah’s neighborhoods, set to open in September
After a string of highly successful exhibits over the past few years, including Les Paul in Mahwah, a Civil War exhibit and an exhibit on the Nike Missile Base in Mahwah, the township’s Museum is working on its next show.
Set to open in September, “The Neighborhoods of Mahwah: 1913 – 2012” plans to document the history of the distinct regions that make up the township – Fardale, Masonicus, East Mahwah, West Mahwah, Stag Hill, Darlington and the Ramapo Valley.
The Museum announced this week that it is in need of volunteers to help put together the new exhibit.
“Volunteers do historic research, find and collect photographs, design exhibit materials, and help mount the exhibit,” museum officials said in a release. “Painters, carpenters, film editors, artists and others are all needed.”
No experience is necessary, and all volunteers are welcome.
The museum is hosting an orientation next Wednesday, March 13, at 7:30 p.m. for anyone interested in volunteering. Get more information on how to be involved by emailing lectures@mahwahmuseum.org or calling 201-512-0099.
