Watering Restrictions Re-Issued Due To Heat, Lack Of Rain
Township asks residents to watch water usage in the hopes that 'additional restrictions will not be necessary'
The township released the following water restriction reminder notice on its website Monday:
During the past month there has been very limited rainfall and extremely hot weather. The same weather is predicted to continue for the next couple of weeks, which has lead to an increased demand on the Mahwah Water System.
Water storage is vital to our Township to maintain pressure in the system for fire emergencies, and low storage tank reserves are the principle reason for the imposition of more stringent controls.
The Mahwah Water Department is reminding and requesting residents who irrigate lawns, shrubbery and gardens to please abide by the alternate day restrictions. By adhering to these restrictions we are hoping that the peak demand will be reduced and additional restrictions will not be necessary.
