What Do You Think Of O&R's Response To Saturday's Storm?
Utility says power has been restored to 95 percent of customers
Tuesday night, Orange & Rockland revised its estimated time for returning power to 90 percent of the customers that lost it from midnight Wednesday to midnight Thursday.
With complaints by residents and public officials growing louder, O&R announced Friday morning that power has been restored to nearly 95% percent of the 133,000 customers in its service area who lost it after the Oct. 29 snow storm.
According to O&R, the snow storm actually knocked out power to more customers than Hurricane Irene, which caused outages to 120,000 of its customers.
O&R is saying that it will have 2,350 workers, including 1,250 contractors and mutual aid crews, in the power restoration efforts Friday.

I have no reason to complain after driving through various towns and seeing the magnitude of the damage everywhere in this area. In fact I feel lucky that power was restored when it was.
However, I thought that their (Con Eds) tracking system left me uncertain. I had registered the outage at my house and a few neighbors using the account number (or registered phone numbers). When I checked half a day later, our street did not appear on their outage map.
When I then checked on my report half a day later, using the same account/phone number(s) that the system had confirmed hours before, I was told that no open ticket existed and that power was already restored (which it certainly was NOT). So I reentered the trouble reports, no knowing if it actually ever "worked".
