Location in A&P Plaza has been empty, what would you like to see there?

For about two years, the corner spot in the A&P Shopping Plaza has been empty. Shoppers stopping by other stores, restaurants, and banks in the plaza now pass by an empty storefront everyday.

So, Patch wants to know, what would you like to see in the spot? Wish a restaurant would come back? Maybe a chain store the township is lacking? Or, a small local business?

Tell us in the comments what you would like to see.

Unfortunately, you would need a liquor license for such an establishment and I do not believe there are any more currently available in Mahwah.

I think a mixed martial arts studio would be fantastic.... but the rents need to be reduced before that can happen

That's a very good idea. I was thinking along the lines of a methodone clinic but I like your answer better.

No business will open in that shopping center until the rents are reduced!

Pastels was a wonderful restaurant for many years in the Township. I remember having many special dinners there--celebrations and just a special 'date' with my loved one. My family was shocked when they closed. It is appalling to me that landlord of that shopping center would rather have empty store fronts than a regular business. We have seen many businesses forced out by the rental hikes in that center. How can it make more financial sense to have an empty storefront than to have a reliable tenant? Something is wrong with our tax codes and laws if there is no financial impetus to rent your properties at a fair rate.

The A&P Supermarket Chain "Owns the whole Damn Shopping Plaza"! The need the $$ for the "CEO Executives Salaries" and also for the "Montvale NJ Corporate Office Park Bldg too"!

How about a self-serve yogurt with all the toppings cafe. Maybe not Dairy Queen would get upset.
