Whiz Kid Puts Passion To The Test This Summer

Mahwah Penn State grad lands local internship

Brittney Ellyn Hunter, a Mahwah resident and recent grad of Penn State, will begin her career path this summer. The landscape contracting design/building major with a minor in horticulture will be working with R&S Landscaping in Midland Park.

“I look forward to learning from the professionals at R&S Landscaping and am grateful for the opportunity,” Brittney said.

According to a release sent out by R&S, Brittney has been well-prepared for the opportunity. During her time in school, she was secretary of The Penn State Horticulture Club and was a member of The Penn State Horticulture Show Committee and the Phi Alpha Xi Honors Fraternity.

Her responsibilities in her new position will include assisting in the creation of custom design plans, being the project manager on smaller assignments, and marketing events.

“We are delighted to welcome Brittney to R&S and hope this internship will provide her with a wealth of knowledge and inspiration as she moves forward pursuing a career in this industry,” stated Robert Schucker, president of R&S Landscaping.

In business for over 25 years, R&S will undoubtedly pass on its tradition of environmentally-conscious business practices. The landscaping company focuses on the "installation of green roof systems, ecologically sensitive outdoor solutions, water efficient irrigation design and installation and bio-diverse landscape design,” the release said.

Brittney says she is looking forward to the challenge.

“I have a passion for landscape design and architecture and welcome the tasks and challenges of working with the staff this summer,” she said.
