This year's musical told the classic Civil wartime story
The Mahwah High School drama club has once again wrapped an impressive spring performance. Starting last week, teens put on a string of ‘Little Women’ performances for their peers, senior citizens in the community, a special show for kids, and shows for the general public. The Mahwah High School production opens to the public Thursday
Local residents need not look too far for live, on-stage entertainment this weekend. The Mahwah High School drama club is bring musical theater, Civil War era-style, to the township. The school’s production of Little Women will be on stage this weekend: According to a release from the drama club, a free performance for Mahwah senior citizens will happen Wednesday at 4 p.m. Regular performances begin Thursday, March 21 through Saturday, March 23 at 7 p.m. A matinee will happen at 2 p.m. Sunday. Reality show "The Real Girls of the Bada Bing" features Satin Dolls, the Lodi club where scenes were filmed for The Sopranos. CAUTION: ADULT LANGUAGE AND SCENES IN VIDEO
A new reality show in development features Bergen County's Satin Dolls, the gentlemen's club best known as the fictional "Bada Bing!" from The Sopranos. Tom Murro, a celebrity journalist and the show's executive producer, said it's like a mix between Jersey Shore, The Real Housewives of New Jersey and The Sopranos. "It's going to be awesome," Murro said. "There's a lot more swearing and violence. No table flipping, though." Satin Dolls, the real club where scenes from The Sopranos were filmed, is located on Route 17 in Lodi. The show takes a look at the drama in the lives of the club's dancers — one is paying her way through college, another struggles with self-esteem — and they all fight with each other over tips. Ramapo College's classical music concert series continues
Ramapo College is hosting its first of several classical music concerts open to the public this Wednesday. At 7 p.m., the campus’s Birch Mansion will host New Jersey-based Madison String Quartet and pianist Itay Goren, the college announced on its website. The Open Door Concert Series is free and open to the public. Registration is not necessary. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Two of the members of the band 'Born Cages' are recent Mahwah High School graduates
Two Mahwah graduates are part of a band that fans of the NYC Indie Rock scene say are about to hit it big. Born Cages – which features township residents and recent Mahwah High School grads Vlad Holiday on guitar and lead vocals and Amanda Carl on keyboards and vocals – has a song on the new Now 45 CD. Now, that’s what I call a big break. The Now discs are known for compiling the latest tracks in hit music together in one place. Born Cages is on the album’s track list, along with recent releases from One Direction, Flo Rida and Maroon 5. The four-person band describes its sounds as “blending the past and future to make the present.” According to the group’s website, fans of its Now 45 song, “Don’t Look Back,” are in luck – Born Cages’ …

The Mahwah Museum lecture is happening Thursday
If you don’t have a sweetheart to celebrate Valentine’s Day with this year, don’t worry. The Mahwah Museum has an alternative event this Thursday that can get you better acquainted with the Civilian Conservation Corps – a group of young, unmarried men who worked in the first Franklin D. Roosevelt New Deal work program in the 1930's. Ramapo College's Open Door Concert Series is sponsoring the event next week
Live classical music is coming to Mahwah next week, thanks to the Ramapo College Open Door Concert Series. The school announced on its website that opera singer MaryAnn McCormick will perform next week. The school released the following description of the show: The February 6 concert will feature internationally acclaimed mezzo soprano MaryAnn McCormick, who teaches voice lessons at Ramapo, and pianist Corazon Andres Bisda performing "lieder" by Hugo Wolf and Gustav Mahler, coupled with a rendering of Felix Mendelssohn's "Songs Without Words op.19b" by pianist and artistic director Itay Goren. BRAVO!!! Cudos to the entire team for putting on a fabulous high school production. The sets were magnificent (thanks Christian and parents), the costumes authentic (there were one or two dresses I would have liked for myself),the orchestra marvelous, the sound and lighting outstanding, and of course the talent of those young people...WOW!!
