Checklist: You Know It's Spring When...

You know it's spring when...

  • The New York Yankees let Mariano Rivera pitch in Tampa
  • The New York Jets talk about winning the Super Bowl
  • Mahwah and Ramsey have Little League signups and coaches have their first meetings
  • The New York Mets talk about injuries
  • It's mid-March and the only snow to be seen is at Campgaw
  • You start to wonder if the driving range is open
  • You go to buy running shows to show off your style because you never run
  • You go shopping for running shoes and see $179.00 for sneakers and you haven't gotten your tax refund yet
  • The New Jersey Devils are once again on the upswing as playoff time approaches
  • The New York Knickerbockers talk about making the playoffs, instead of advancing in them
  • You can't find your Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition and now it doesn't matter
  • You want to make plans for opening day at the Stadium and realize you can't afford opening day at the Stadium
  • March Madness heads to a conclusion and the best basketball of the year comes to an end
  • Finally, you see the blooms of Augusta and the Masters...ahh, SPRING IS HERE!...I think.

start thinking every stream you pass is full of trout
(especially that hole across from the Mason Jar)

the river makes a sharp right hand turn with fast water into the stump/junk pile
there is a deep hole there and then runs out to fast water again
very difficult to get to
and you will get stuck every cast
trout die of old age there
