The Mahwah Home Depot is hosting the amped up community event this weekend.
The Home Depot’s annual Spring Festival is expanding this year. So, when you head out to learn about spring home projects, be sure to bring some extra cash for cleaning supply donations, and Fido for a pet costume contest with you. “This year, we wanted to really make this a community event,” Sharon VanCisco-Boccadoro, a Mahwah Home Depot Home Services Coordinator, said. The Spring Festival is happening this Saturday, inside the store, and in the Home Depot parking lot, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. “It’s a home services event, so we will have information about starting a home project, free estimates for Home Depot installations and other services, and other aspects like that,” she said. “But we are also adding a bunch of new things.” Those …

The increased demand for data centers is bringing big business to Northern NJ, but the nature of the business is making it tough to regulate, report says.
The unmarked building on Macarthur Boulevard in Mahwah that houses the New York Stock Exchange’s backup data was one of the examples the New York Times used Tuesday in an article on the increasing real estate value of data centers in Northern New Jersey. Despite their addresses outside Manhattan, data centers throughout the region are commanding big bucks for companies to rent out remote computer back-up, and big amounts of energy, the report said. “Why pay $600 or more a square foot at unglamorous addresses like Weehawken, Secaucus and Mahwah?” the article asks. “The answer is still location, location, location — but of a very different sort.” It goes on to explain that “companies are paying top dollar to lease space there in buildings …
The entrepreneur says the NFL-registered league will be open to first graders through adults who want to play.
A Mahwah entrepreneur has started a new league that he says will help fill a void in the Bergen County sports scene. Carl Susini, who has lived in Mahwah with his wife since 2004, was a coach in the Mahwah Youth Football League for eight years before serving as president of the Bergen Passaic Youth Football League. Though Susini and his wife could not have any children, he says the impact youth sports had on him as a child prompted him to become involved in the existing programs in the township, and create something new. “I remember the experience I got,” he said. “It was not only educational, I learned things that were really life-changing. I want to be able to help give kids that.” In 2010, Susini founded Youth Sports World, a sports …

Businesses should start preparing for the flood of visitors now, according to speakers at The Big Game Huddle, an informational and networking event held Wednesday at Raritan Valley Country Club. “Start the celebration now,” said Wayne Hasenbalg, president and chief executive officer of the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority. “You don’t have to wait until the week before the game," he told the dailyrecord.com. That impact will be felt in North and Central Jersey, as one of the competing teams will practice at the Atlantic …

The community welcomed Mary Ann’s Gourmet Market with a ribbon cutting ceremony this weekend
The owners of Mary Ann’s Gourmet Market, a new gourmet deli that officially opened in the Ramapo Centre this weekend, say the shop is exactly what they imagined it would be. With a deli, salad bar, prepared foods, eat-in tables, take-out options, a marketplace filled with local foods, and a bakery, Mahwah residents and owners Michael and Maria Flynn say they are excited for locals to come in and get to know the new shop. “So far, so good,” Maria Flynn said of how business has picked up since the market’s soft opening on April 26. “The community seems to be slowly learning about us, and we have the support of our family and friends, which means so much.” Mary Ann’s is a first for the Flynns.
