DESCRIPTION:The Mahwah Museum has opened an exciting new exhibit\, &ldquo
 \;New Jersey Fights in the Civil War &ndash\; Remembering Soldiers Burie
 d in Mahwah&rdquo\; to celebrate the Sesquicentennial (150 years) of the
  Civil War.&nbsp\; The exhibit is open from 1-5 p.m. Wednesday\, Saturda
 y and Sunday at the Museum\, 201 Franklin Turnpike Mahwah.\nDuring the w
 ar\, New Jersey regiments were engaged in every major battle and many of
  the State&rsquo\;s soldiers were wounded or made the ultimate sacrifice
 .&nbsp\; Twenty eight of these soldiers are buried in three of Mahwah&rs
 quo\;s cemeteries: Ramapo Reformed Church Cemetery\, Mahwah Cemetery\, a
 nd Redeemer Cemetery.&nbsp\; The Museum has information about each one: 
 his unit and the actions and events in which he was engaged\nThis exhibi
 t is focused on the experiences of New Jersey soldiers during the strugg
 le:&nbsp\; how they lived and trained\, where and how they fought\, and 
 the importance of the roles of women and children in this war.&nbsp\; Wi
 lliam Mann\, of Mahwah\, and the other the members of the &ldquo\;United
  States Colored Troops&rdquo\; are honored in the exhibit.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;
  Special sections focus on the New Jersey recipients of the Congressiona
 l Medal of Honor and the contrarian &ldquo\;Peace Democrats&rdquo\; of B
 ergen County. Local collectors have provided the museum with many Civil 
 War era artifacts\, photos\, and documents that are part of the display.
 \nOn April 21\, 2012\, the 15th New York Cavalry\, a Civil War re-enacto
 r unit\, will be encamped on the lawn outside the museum.&nbsp\; This li
 ving history experience will allow visitors to the Museum to step back i
 n time and to experience the life of the soldier during the war years. &
 nbsp\;\n&ldquo\;Les Paul in Mahwah&rdquo\; a wildly popular exhibit\, al
