Less Than A Year Until the Super Bowl Comes to Bergen County!

And, I don't understand why everyone is making such a big deal about it.

Here is something to think about between shoveling snow and getting warm: in less than 52 weeks we will have the Super Bowl here at Met Life Stadium.  There's a lot of panic in the sports world, heaven forbid a Super Bowl be played in less than ideal conditions.

I HAVE A NEWS BULLETIN FOR YOU...SOME OF THE BEST GAMES IN NFL HISTORY WERE PLAYED IN LESS THAN PERFECT CONDITIONS! The Best Game Ever Played, the 1958 NFL championship game between the Baltimore Colts and the New York Giants was played on a cold, snowy day at Yankee Stadium.  How about the frozen tundra in Green Bay when the Pack beat the Cowgurls?

How about the Giants and Eli beating Farve and the Cheeseheads at Lambeau in overtime? These were great games and the level of play was in no way compromised by the adverse conditions. It's football, people! The game is meant to be played outdoors in any conditions, why change that now?

I liked watching football when these gladiators were covered in mud, sweat, and tears. Don't you remember heated benches and those long parkas the players wore on the sidelines? Now that's football!

Oh yes, and the fact that next February will be very warm in my house, the coffee will be good, and nothing - and I mean nothing - beats hi-def TV.

Much suprise was expressed as Big Blue announced player moves that resulted in some Super Bowl champions being cut from the team this week. Boley, Bradshaw, Umenyiora, and Canty are no longer a part of the Giants.

I believe these moves were made to open up salary cap space do the team can fill gaping holes on defense.  We can expect to see more cuts, are you watching me David Diehl?

I was most suprised by Bradshaw being cut but I can understand that his health is a major issue and he is made expendable by the success of David Wilson. The Giants currently have Andre Brown and Wilson as its two running backs. Big Blue and GM Jerry Reese have earned our benefit of the doubt based upon the excellence of this franchise for many years now.

We will watch to see what the Giants do with the extra money desperately needed for linebackers and defensive backs. The offensive line needs to be revamped too.  I am tired of hearing that Chris Snee is the coach's son in law...hey Chris, block somebody. Ok Jerry Reese we are watching you.

I hate to say it, but I am not actually shocked by this accusation. I am tired of A-Rod and the Steinbrenners are too. Why they negotiated against themselves and gave him a new deal escapes me now as it did then.

I said last year he looked shot to me and it's not his hip -- his reflexes are gone, he can't hit an 80 mile an hour fastball. Hey Alex, it happens to all of us. Me too, I celebrated a birthday this past week and I do not know how so many of you found out about it...thanks for all of your good wishes.  Even multi-millionaires can't defeat one opponent, Father Time.
