Who's on Third? Who's on First??

A-Rod, David Wright, the Knicks and the Giants

Just when you think things cant get any more bizarre in the world of sports.......

The New York Yankees announced that Alex Rodriquez has had a major development with his "good " hip and needs surgery that will disable him at least half of the upcoming season. Just as incredibly the Yankees lose backup third-baseman Eric Chavez to the Arizona Diamondbacks without a fight. Huh? The Yankees?

Apparently GM Brian Cashman was made aware in October that Arod had some discomfort in his hip and did not do anything about finding a replacement.  At the conclusion of this week's Winter Baseball meetings in Nashville the Yankees announced they had made an offer to hated ex-Deadsox Kevin Youkilis for a one year 12 million dollar deal and are waiting his response.

Across town the NY Mets did the right thing, signing third-baseman David Wright to an 8 year 138 million dollar contract extension. The move assures that Wright would be the first Met to start and finish his career with one team and no interruptions.  The Metropolitans probably over-payed but hey, why else would anyone make the trek out to Citifield?

ITEM 2-The New York Giants are still in first place after an underwhelming performance on Monday night against the Deadskins.  As bad as the Giants played a holding penalty nullified a key 3rd down completion that robbed Big Blue of a winning field goal drive..They have a slim one game lead over the Deadskins and the Cowgurls with 4 games left.

ITEM 3- The New York Knicks beat up the Miami Heat for the second time this year and have the best record in the NBA's Eastern Conference. This time the Knicks played without their best player Melo Anthony...somebody pinch me...am I dreaming?
