9 Bergen County Museums to Host Celebration of NJ's 350th Birthday

Fourth Annual Northwest Bergen History Day is happening this April.

Join the Northwest Bergen History Coalition in celebrating New Jersey’s 350th anniversary on Saturday, April 26.  

From 11 AM to 4 PM nine historical homes and museums will be open to the public to tour and enjoy. Using the themes of diversity, innovation, and liberty each site will feature an exhibit spotlighting their place in New Jersey’s history. The museums and historic homes on the tour include:  

  •        The Fell House 475 Franklin Turnpike, Allendale
  •        The Museum at the Station 176 Rock Road, Glen Rock
  •        The Hermitage 335 N. Franklin Turnpike, HoHoKus
  •        The Mahwah Museum 201 Franklin Turnpike, Mahwah
  •        The Van Allen House 3 Franklin Ave., Oakland
  •        The Old Stone House 538 Island Rd., Ramsey
  •        The Schoolhouse Museum 650 E. Glen Ave., Ridgewood
  •        The Hopper-Goetschius Museum 363 E. Saddle River Rd., Upper          Saddle River
  •        The Zabriskie House 421 Franklin Ave., Wyckoff

Advance ticket sales for admission to all nine sites start on April 1. Adults can purchase a ticket in advance for $10 and receive free "Fun History Tickets" for their children 12 and under to have stamped at each site.

Advance tickets can be purchased through each of the Coalition's historical societies.  They will also be on sale at the Schoolhouse Museum in Ridgewood on Thursdays and Saturdays from 1 to 3 and Sundays 2 to 4; the Mahwah Museum on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays 1 to 4; The Hermitage Wednesday through Sunday 1 to 4; and Abma's Farm Market in Wyckoff Monday through Saturday 8 to 5:30.

Those wishing to purchase tickets by mail may do so by sending a request and a self-addressed stamped envelope to The Schoolhouse Museum 650 East Glen Avenue Ridgewood, NJ 07450. Please make checks payable to the Ridgewood Historical Society.

Tickets will be on sale at each of the sites on the day of the tour for $15 a person, children 12 and under free.  All proceeds from the ticket sales will be equally divided among the nine historical sites.  The Coalition will be selling grilled hotdogs and soda at the Hopper-Goetschius House Museum in Upper Saddle River.
