Mahwah Hosting Second Annual 'Joyce Kilmer Day' on Super Bowl Sunday

Pre-game poet celebration is happening at Roxanne's Restaurant.

Mahwah is set to host it’s second annual Joyce Kilmer Day this February, but according to an announcement from the event’s host, the Joyce Kilmer Society, this year’s will be happening on a big day.

February 2 is not only the anniversary of the poet’s penning of his most famous work, “Trees,” but also the date of the 2014 Super Bowl at the MetLife Stadium.

So, the Society, which formed in 2013 to celebrate the history of Joyce Kilmer, who lived in Mahwah and wrote the famed poem in the township, is throwing a pre-Super Bowl party celebrating the poet, it announced in its monthly newsletter this week.
