Mahwah Society Plans Poetry Reenactment, Contest to Celebrate Joyce Kilmer
'Joyce Kilmer in the Park' is happening this summer.
Mahwah's Joyce Kilmer Society is planning a new way for the township to celebrate the famed poet who spent five years of his life living in town.
The Society announced in its most recent newsletter that it will host a "Joyce Kilmer in the Park" event this summer. The July 30 event at Winter's Park is set to include reenactments of Kilmer's poems, music, raffles, and a poetry contest.
Original poems will be collected by the Mahwah Historic Preservation Commission through July 1. Four "best in show" poets will be chosen to win a $25 honorarium at the event.
