The Most Popular Dog Names in Mahwah 2013

Mahwah’s got a lot of four-legged friends. In 2013, 1,675 dogs have been licensed and registered through town hall. That means there is one dog for about every 15 people in the township.

And, they’ve all got cute names.

Resident Anne Greenip said her puppy Riggs got his name from the Lethal Weapon movies. And, Jeanne Paolillo said her family members were inspired by their dog’s coloring when choosing the name Latte.

According to registration records from the township of Mahwah, the following are the most popular dog names in town in 2013, and how many dogs have each name.

As for unique names, Mahwah dogs are all over the map. A bunch are seemingly named for places, like Alcatraz, two Indianas, five Jerseys, Brooklyn, and Paddington (we are thinking as in Paddington Square).

Famous historical figures and characters have also inspired Mahwah dog names, just ask Lancelot, Guinevere, Einstein, Elvis, Eeyore, Caesar, and the two Brutuses.
