'America's Got Talent' Finalist to Perform in Mahwah

Singer and impressionist from Season 3 will join his band for a 50s and 60s Doo Wop, Pop, and R&B show this weekend.

Matthew Piazzi, one of the top ten finalists from the third season of America’s Got Talent, is brining his band to Mahwah for a concert this weekend.

Ramapo College’s Berrie Center will play host to Matthew Piazzi and the Debonairs, a group that performs Doo Wop, pop, R&B, and soul songs from the 1950s and 60s, the college announced this week. The show is this Saturday, March 22, at 8 p.m. at the school’s Berrie Center for Performing Arts.

Piazzi, who also does voice-over work for commercials, movie trailers, and animated productions, entered America’s Got Talent through a MySpace video audition.

“It was a video that I sent [to the producers] through MySpace, and they were very pleased with that, and brought me out to Vegas to audition for the MySpace segment of the show,” he said.

“It was a video of me doing a series of impressions."

Organizers of Saturday’s show say Piazzi plans to bring the same mix of entertainment and fun to his Mahwah performance.

"We are so looking forward to this show,” Berrie Center Interim Director Stephanie Chaiken said.

“We expect our audience to be out of their seats and up dancing in the aisles.”

Tickets range from $25 to $35 and are available online, or by calling (201) 684-7844.
