Golden-Globe winning star Jason Bateman is scheduled to film scenes from Warner Brothers upcoming film “This is Where I Leave You” in Suffern on Saturday, Suffern Mayor Dagan Lacorte announced in a release Monday.
According to IMDB, the movie also stars Tina Fey, Jane Fonda and Abigail Breslin. The site lists a brief description of the film: "A Jewish family that isn't used to observing their faith's traditions is forced to fulfill their father's final wish and sit Shivah together for an entire week and confront their problems."
Bateman, who is originally from Rye, NY, is known for his roles in the television shows Arrested Development, Little House on the Prairie, and The Hogan Family, and movies Horrible Bosses, Hit and Run and Identity Thief.
In his release, Lacorte said he felt Suffern was a good choice for the filming. He also said he is hopeful the filming will bring a minor boon to businesses in the area.
"The spotlight is shining on a revitalized Suffern," Lacorte said in the release. "I hope the crew visits our acclaimed Restaurant Row and takes a look at the exciting new construction in our downtown business district."
Lacorte said village officials would monitor the filming to avoid any disruption to residents.
